Here's What You Missed

Lloyd discussed his experiences establishing and expanding a business in the education sector. With his background in business from Stanford University and has launched numerous businesses in the field of education. We the chance to learn from him in our podcast and here are some questions from the event.

With it being a startup surrounding high schools, it's hard to find the time for something like this, are you finding people that are interested?

"With Spike Labs I haven't seen the same rocket-like takeoff compared to other boot camps and it is earlier days but people still launch things for two reasons one because it's exciting and you learn a lot. There’s also the factor of motivation purposes, College admissions and self-confidence. To answer your question it is taking off but it's a commitment, like if you were to take a sport seriously or a musical interest. It's one more vertical that people hadn’t thought about as much but now they're starting to because it's around us everywhere. "

Has this program made any difference in college applications and acceptances?

"A huge difference, I wouldn't keep doing this for 6 years if I didn't see any difference or promise in it. It's so exciting to see a young person sort of put things out to the world for the first time and the world responds. Colleges respond fairly quickly because it's a no-brainer and they want to fill their campuses with dynamic people. They obviously care about grades and other academic factors, not just spikes but they love it. If you're a pretty good student, then they're looking for something else that makes you stand out and spikes are just that! "
