"It's hard to know what kind of person you're talking to when you're giving this kind of advice but one thing I could say that is helpful is that if you're prepared financially and emotionally to commit yourself and your team for to develop something to get it to market to test in a year, it's probably going to take you a lot longer than that so you might as well take your time doing the extra work which will inevitably increase the likelihood of your success."
"Having a bigger team is a huge advantage when starting a company and I think that's one thing I would have done differently. I understand why smaller teams might feel like a better idea but if you can find more people who believe in the mission and in the project it's going to be better for you in the future. Of course that's also assuming that their skills are complementary and everybody is on the same page. I wouldn't start with less than five people, you need to fill those slots for the various things that you're going to need as you get closer to the market and really get off the ground."
